When reviewing this service, we tested it on Android, iOS, Windows, and Mac. We really liked how the apps looked – they were all really easy to use and they performed very well.
NordVPN is available in China for about half of the year. The other half of the year, it is blocked and fixed by GFW. It uses a “random” connection to servers in China. These servers are special servers that NordVPN has tuned for Chinese users. Currently, all the servers in China are successfully connected with the “US #75**” series of servers, and there are about 6-8 servers available.
We found NordVPN did a great job at combining a strong focus on privacy, the ability to unblock content, and performance, making it a fantastic all-around VPN. In fact, we think it is so good that it made it onto our list of the best VPN services in 2024.

SurfshrkVPN has a feature in android that is rarely seen in other VPNs, and that is the GPS spoofing feature. But it only supports Android devices at the moment.
The use of SurfshrkVPN in China is abysmal. Although many review sites claim that it is usable in China. But it is not able to connect to the server through the app most of the time. The situation is improved by manually configuring the server through OpenVPN Gui. I don’t recommend it for users going to China, as we have better options.

ProtonVPN is a fast and secure VPN service with lots of servers, some innovative ideas, and great software. It also shows a strong dedication to privacy, as befits the fearsome reputation ProtonMail has built in this regard.
Our only real criticisms are that we would like to see proper kill-switches in iOS, and that the Visionary plan pricing is quite steep in comparison to its other plans. The iOS kill-switch issue is mitigated to a certain extent by the “Always-on VPN” feature in both apps, and Proton’s Plus plan is extremely reasonable. It’s a solid service that holds its own against some of the top names in the industry. We’ll be keeping a close eye to see how ProtonVPN continues to improve its service.
